MLK Day of Service Project at OLGC - Breakfast Bags for Shut Ins
Our Lady of Good Counsel (OLGC) CYO and Cub Scouts Pack 144 are coordinating a Martin Luther King Day Service Project on Monday, January 21.
After attending 9AM Mass, we will be working in the School Gym assembling "Breakfast Bags" for the Aid for Friends program.
Aid For Friends' mission is to serve needy, isolated shut-ins, primarily the frail elderly, in the five-county Greater Philadelphia area, with free daily home-cooked meals delivered weekly by empathetic volunteer visitors, and also to provide shut-ins with free out reach services.
The goal is to help our homebound "client/friends" maintain their cherished independence by supporting their determination to remain in their own homes for as long as possible and to enhance their quality of life.
The "Breakfast Bags" being packed will include miniature cereal boxes, instant oatmeal packets, tea bags/instant coffee, juice boxes. cereal bars & granola bars, and packs of peanut butter crackers.
Donations will alos be collected in the back of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church this weekend for this project.
