Toys for Tots Program in Lower Bucks at Risk

In 2011, the Toys for Tots program in Central and Upper Bucks managed to extend its operations to include the communities located in Lower Bucks County. This was only done through the generous donation of time from many volunteers, as well as some donated warehouse space.

Unfortunately, the warehouse space was temporary, and the program in Lower Bucks is again at risk of not being able to run, due to the lack of somewhere to collect and distribute the toys from. This, coupled with some volunteers not returning, makes it unrealistic to maintain the program in that part of the county. To be able to run the program in Lower Bucks, about 1,000 square feet of warehouse space is needed, in order to have somewhere for the toys to come into, get sorted into appropriate age and gender categories, and then re-assembled into orders going back out to local churches and social service agencies for distribution to the less fortunate children in the area. The warehouse is a critical part of the equation for a successful Toys for Tots program, as it serves as the central hub for everything that takes place in the community.

If anyone has space that can be donated, please contact the Bucks County Toys for Tots coordinator, Kevin Miller, via email: toysfortots@comcast.net.
