5 Things You Need to Know: Sept. 2

Tidbits of information to welcome the weekend.

 

1. Upper Southampton Parks and Recreation: Sign up for the first session of Tai Chi starting Sept. 1 until Oct. 13. Classes will start at 6:30 p.m. and will take place in the Tamanend Park Carriage House. Go to page five of the USPR Fall 2011 newsletter for more information.

2. Attention incoming Centennial School District ninth graders: come out and show your school spirit at the William Tennent High School  (located at 333 Centennial Road) versus Wissahickon High School football game tonight! The game will start at 7 p.m. and will take place at the Alumni Stadium. Free admission. Have fun, and be safe!

3. Billboard No. 1: Today in 1982, Steve Miller Band’s “Abracadabra” topped the charts. Get under the spell of this hit here .

4. Green tip for hitting the books: Rainforest Alliance encourages students and parents to think a little greener this academic year. Pack lunches in reusable containers, and write on both sides of the page during seatwork, homework and study time. Read about more green hints to get on the right track for the new year.
