Staff members of Centennial School District are gearing up to take the court against the Harlem Wizards next month at William Tennent High School.
The game was organized by the Klinger Middle School PTO and the funds raised from the event will benefit Klinger's eighth grade class.
Wizard's player David "DP" Paul put on quite a show Wednesday morning for the students of Klinger Middle School. Paul also hosted a rally for the students of Davis Elementary School later in the day.
"I've got lots of tricks and I'll be bringing them all," he said in an interview following the morning assembly.
Klinger Principal Dennis Best will be leading Centennial's team, comprised of staff members from across the district, as well as two seniors from WTHS.
Admittedly, Best said he is not a star basketball player, and that football and rugby were more his kind of sports.
He said he has two hopes for the evening: first, that he can stay on his feet through the game and second, that members of the community will come out and show their support.
"We are excited about the event," said Best. "The district hasn't done something like this in a long time. We are looking forward to a great night with the community."
"The Wizards vs. The Klippers" game will take place Thursday, Oct. 11. in the WTHS Gymnasium. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the game will begin at 7 p.m.
If purchased in advance, tickets are $8 for students and $10 for adults. If purchased at the door the cost will be $10 for students and $12 for adults.
Tickets can be purchased on Centennial's website (by using PayPal), at the district's administration building or at any of Tennent's home football games prior to the event.
If you have a student attending a district elementary or middle school, you can also purchase tickets via a printable order form found in the e-folder for your child's school.
