Local Churches to Host 9/11 Services

Two churches in the area will host commemorative services on Sept. 11.

In observance of the anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, several local churches are incorporating remembrance into their regular Sunday services.

Addisville Reformed Church in Richboro plans to show a video clip and share how its congregation responded to the tragedy 10 years ago. The church sent volunteer crews to New York City and they helped a restaurant serve free meals to everyone working at the adjacent Ground Zero site.

Our Lady of Good Counsel will host an interfaith prayer service to honor those who died from the Sept. 11 attacks. OLGC's Pastor Msgr. Anthony J. D'Angelico will lead the service, and members from his congregation, as well as congregations from North and Southampton Reformed ChurchEpiscopal Church of the Redemption and Good Shepherd Lutheran will participate, said Joan Kozlowski, Music Director.

The service will also honor members of the Armed Forces, police, firefighters, emergency workers and public servants. Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (R-8) and Sen. Stuart Greenleaf (R-12) will participate and an interfaith choir will sing hymns of praise and patriotism, Kozlowski said.

This article has been corrected to reflect a change. Pastor D'Angelico is from OLGC, not North and Southampton Reformed Church.
