A male victim was taken Abington Memorial Hospital's trauma unit late Monday night after an accident at Street and Buck roads.

Lower Southampton police say the victim was riding on a two-wheeled moped-like vehicle when he was involved in an accident at the intersection.

The small vehicle and an SUV made contact at the intersection and rider was injured, police said. No one in the SUV was seriously hurt.

A pair of shoes and bloodied clothing sat in the eastbound lanes of Street Road, just feet away the badly damaged moped.

Crews from the Feasterville Fire Company and Upper Southampton Police Department assisted at the scene.

The accident and ensuing investigation closed the road from around 10:45 p.m. to midnight.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, police said.

Im sorry for the victim... Street rd is horrible everybody is always in a rush because its a long stretch rd. I WAS hit on street rd. last Wednesday, February 6, 2013 & I've been checking this site for the details of myself being struck, my name is Jennifer Young & I was hit on street rd. Just lost my job due to wearing a neck brace...Tom Sofield, I was just wondering why my accident was never reported because if it would have been reported, maybe drivers on street rd. Would be more careful & understand that not everybody has a car & in lieu of a car we walk, ride bikes, motorcycles, & mopeds, etc. These drivers need to be more aware of their surroundings. Somebody NEEDS to put their foot down & alert these drivers that not everybody can get down street rd. Via vehicle & they need to be educated about street rd. & its surroundings. Please get back to me on this one Mr. Tom Sofield, thank you, Jennifer Young @ Jennylovenick@gmail.com

Jenny, I am sorry you got hit by a car. But if you wanted to be on the news you should have gotten hit while doing something interesting like riding a homemade moped.

How did you lose your job because you had a neck brace on?

If this is true, you should be going after your employer for wrongful termination, not the Patch! Come on now.

Jobs that you can get fired from for being in a neck brace:

Prostitute (although this may appeal to a niche market thereby upper your value)
Carnival worker that balances things on their head
Scarf Model
Pillow Tester
Headbanging teacher

That's pretty much all I got.

Was this moped street legal and inspected? It looks like A Frankenmoped (Sport bike rear tire with a dirt bike front tire. The frame tubing looks insufficient. The engine looks like it came off a lawn tractor). I would be pissed if someone crash this piece of crap into my vehicle. I hope the rider was not injured. Common sense should tell you not to ride when the roads are wet.

I think kid had no license to be driving on the street. He is lucky he is alive and the people in the SUV were not hurt b/c he chose to break the law

I had dealings with the driver of the moped... he does not have a license.
I heard he had to have several surgeries- broke his leg and arm. Have no Idea how the car occupants made out.
