Police: Robbery Report Was a Hoax
The Upper Southampton Chief of Police issued a statement Friday afternoon saying the robbery near the community center Wednesday night was a false story, concocted by the alleged victim.
Upper Southampton Police issued a press release Thursday morning reporting that a man had been assaulted and robbed in the vicinity of the Community Center late Wednesday evening.
In a statement released Friday afternoon, Chief of Police Ron MacPherson said the robbery was a hoax and the man who made the report has been arrested.
Noel Tadeo-Resendiz, 29, of Southampton, allegedly told police he was robbed and assaulted by three men while walking home from his job at Las Margaritas Restaurant Wednesday night.
According to MacPherson, an investigation into the incident revealed that Tadeo-Resendiz was actually riding his bike to his home in the Dorchester Apartments when he crashed into a parked car on Tabor Avenue.
MacPherson said Tadeo-Resendiz made the false report to police because he was scared.
Tadeo-Resendiz was arrested Friday and charged with making false reports to authorities, a misdemeanor of the third degree.

What a moron! I thought thought this story was shady. His punishment should be making him crash his bike into the side of the Community Center repeatedly until his bike is beyond repair.
