Trash collection in the township changed to Fridays only, effective May 1.
However, it appears several people in township still put their trash out on the curb this morning.
A drive through the township Tuesday afternoon showed 4 out of 5 homes had both trash and recyclables in front of their home.

Considering there are people starving and dying of disease and starvation on a daily basis in Dafur and other third world countries, I think we will all be able to live with the fact that we get our trash picked up once a week instead of twice a week. Reality check may be in order for those who disagree.

The analogy is irrelevant. There are unfortunate people EVERYWHERE and I feel bad for them (and honestly do what I can to help the less fortunate) but that has nothing to do with my trash pick-up or my dismay that our board of directors took it upon themselves to cut a service we are paying for, in half. Why wasn't this a ballot question and why weren't we given an option? Why don't they eliminate our "street cleaning" which gets blown over with debris 5 minutes after it's been done? I'd rather a tax refund and I'll get private trash pick-up. Mascaro is a disaster anyway and my neighbors and I get to play "identify the trash cans" in the middle of the street on trash days.

No reality check needed, just an explanation of why there is a 50% reduction in a service with no offset on the $$ side nor input from anyone on the board of supervisor's.

Take the time and go to our township meetings to let them know your frustrations. It is politics as usual in this township and it will never change but at least you can have your voices heard. While the residents of this township may not be getting the monetary benefit of cut services, I can pretty much assure you that our township is getting some type of positive from this newly implemented service.

the questions I have are, is it a swap we (majority) approve of? Does it benefit everyone, or just a few? Why was this done so quietly, considering it effects us all (I've seen flyers sent out ahead of time for things far less important)?
Do we all really all have to pack every township meeting just to make sure the people we chose to represent us aren't trying to sneak a fast one past us?

Township saved $17 dollars per household with 50% reduction in service!
Mascaro does 50% less job for 12% less money!!!!! How stupid of township!

The major cost of trash service is for the TRASH not the service. There is a fee per ton to dispose of it. Your service was cut in half, but I am very certain the amount of trash has not been.

If the cost per household for twice a week collection in 2012 is 147.44, then why am I charged 310.00 on my current tax bill for refuse. The Township is more than doubling the actual cost. I can not believe that the Township is using retail profit margins!!!
