Report: Archbishop Wood Safe from Parochial Closures
A blue ribbon panel will reveal at 4 p.m. today a list of archdiocesan schools that will be closed in June.
According to a report by philly.com, a 16-member blue ribbon panel has selected four high schools and 44 elementary schools that will be closed by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia at the end of the 2011-2012 school year.
Rita Schwartz, president of the Philadelphia chapter of the Association of Catholic Teachers, confirmed the names of the high schools that will shutter in June: Conwell-Egan, St. Huberts, Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast and West Catholic. Archbishop Wood will not be closing.
The list was revealed during a closed door meeting with school administrators at Neumann College. A full announcement will be made during a 4 p.m. press conference that will stream online at archphila.org.
