St. Patrick's Parade, Book Sale & More Weekend Events

Another weekend is here. Time to plan for some fun!

 

ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE
Where/when: St. Joseph The Worker Roman Catholic Church, 9172 New Falls Rd., Levittown, Saturday, 10:30 a.m.
Why go: Get a jump on celebrating the wearin’ o’ the green!
Cost: Free

CURES IN THE WOODS & GARDENS
Where/when: Craven Hall Historical Society, 599 Newtown Rd., Warminster, Sunday, noon.
Why go: The Craven Hall Historical Society, Inc. will present a special program on colonial herbal recipes used by early settlers to treat various ailments. Instead of making an appointment with the local doctor or dentist, colonial families sought out natural remedies in everyday places such as gardens or backyards. The program, which is free, is included in Craven Hall’s monthly house tour and tour of the newly opened John Fitch Steamboat Museum. The Open House takes place from noon until 3:00 p.m.

OPEN MIC NIGHT
Where/when: Horsham Township Library, 435 Babylon Rd., Horsham, Friday, 7 p.m.
Why go: Coffeehouse-style evenings for adults and teens older than 15 – music, poetry, music, whatever. Come to perform or just enjoy.
Cost: Free

USED BOOK SALE
Where/when: Huntingdon Valley Library, 625 Red Lion Rd., Huntingdon Valley, Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Why go: Bulk up your book collection on the cheap.
Cost: Free to browse

FIRE DEPARTMENT AUCTION
Where/when: Fireside Inn Beef & Ale, 237 Elmwood Ave., Feasterville Trevose, Sunday, 3 p.m.
Why go: Come and join the bidding! All Proceeds goes to the Lower Southampton Fire Department. There will be drinks, food, friends and bidding wars.
Cost: Free

ENLIST IN THE UNION ARMY!
Where/when: Free Library of Northampton Township, 25 Upper Holland Rd., Richboro, Saturday, 3 p.m.
Why go: Join this interactive educational program with historical reenactor, Michael Jesberger as he "enlists" you in the Union army. Learn what life was like on the march, in camp and in battle. Learn about and see the equipment and weapons used as well as the personal items of a "Yankee" soldier.
Cost: Free
