Two Dead After Street Road Motorcycle Crash [Updated]
A man and woman died after the wreck at Street Road and Knowles Avenue Saturday evening.
Monday, 1 p.m.:
Saturday, 10:35 p.m.:
According to police a middle-aged man and woman are dead after a serious wreck involving a car and motorcycle at Street Road and Knowles Avenue.
Upper Southampton Police Lt. Frank Groome said the female victim police was pronounced dead at the scene and the male victim was declared dead shortly after being taken from the crash site by paramedics. Both victims are Bucks County residents.
A driver and a passenger in a Chevy Impala, which suffered heavy front-end damage, were for the most part uninjured but were taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown, Groom told Patch.
Both the male and female victims were thrown from the bike and onto the pavement of Street Road.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by officers and detectives. Police did say the motorcycle was headed eastbound on Street Road towards Feasterville when the crash occurred at around 7 p.m.
Motorist Kathy Garrett said she arrived on the scene right after the accident and alerted EMTs at the nearby ambulance station, as other passerbys worked to try to save the male motorcylist life.
Police investigated the crash for more than two hours before the Bucks County Coroner arrived at the scene to retrieve the female victim’s body.
The motorcycle that carried the two victims sat, broken into two pieces, on the sidewalk outside the BP gas station as multiple investigators took measurements at the scene. Strewn about Street Road were some of the victims’ personal belongings.
A sport bike was parked at the scene shortly after the crash. That motorcyclist left shortly after spearking with police, and his relationship, if any, with the victims in unknown.
Eastbound Street Road was closed until shortly after 10:30 p.m. as authorities worked the scene.
Northampton Township police and the Southampton Fire Co. assisted Upper Southampton police at the scene.
Groome said more information on the accident would be dispersed via a press release.
In April, 22-year-old Trevose resident Kyle Schwab was killed in a motorcycle crash about a mile up Street Road in the township.
Original story:
UPDATE: Breaking News Network confirms one person is dead following the Saturday evening accident. (8:57 p.m., Saturday).

Police said the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Street Road and Knowles Avenue. Unconfirmed reports have listed one fatality. No word on any other injuries.
Northampton Police and members of Southampton Fire Co. are assisting at the scene.

My guess....and this is JUST a guess....is that the Impala with front-end damage made a left turn in front of the oncoming motorcycle. It happens frequently to bike riders. People in cars are scanning for cars, not bikes, and they completely miss the big shiny object with a headlight coming straight at them. How, I don't know...but they do.

I was sitting in the right turn lane to turn onto Street Road when this happened. I was also the first car in line, from what I saw, the light was changing from yellow to red, and I think the Impala thought the motorcycle was going to stop so he started to turn. As the impact happened, my light was already green. Watching it was like watching a video game. I'm only 17, and it was literally the scariest thing I have ever seen.
My family and I will be praying for both families involved, this was a tragedy that never should have happened.

The accident left many bystanders stunned as they stood on the sidewalk shocked at what had just happened. The motorcycle was in pieces, the body of the victim on the ground, the driver of the car sobbing....all STREET RD traffic was being directed quickly around the intersection....SLOW DOWN signs are everywhere in our neighborhood...just one request people SLOW DOWN! I don't want that to be my son or daughter...

That's because most drivers are ignorant towards motorcyclists. They are in such a dam hurry to make that turn that the couple of seconds he could have waited to let the bike pass cost the motorcyclists life... A couple of seconds.... Are you in that much of a hurry?????? Now 2 people are dead and 2 families lives just changed forever in 2 seconds! Its not the motorcycles that are dangerous, its the people driving cars. They just don't care. Its like a free for all when people get behind the wheel of a car. This is probable the number 1 cause of motorcycle accidents..... Come on people wake the hell up!!!!! Very sad.....

I know there are some responsible motorcyclists, but in my experience I rarely come across one that abides the speed limit, doesn't swerve around and between cars like they were an obstacle course, or wears a helmet. So car drivers are so suppose to bend over backwards to watch out for motorcyclists so they could enjoy their joy ride. Give me break! The article doesn't even say who was responsible for the accident. Even if the car driver was responsible, he or she was not responsible for their deaths.

If you read the comment posted by the person right in front of the accident- it seems the car was in the middle of the intersection waiting to turn left. If her light was laready green- it tells me the car was beginning the turn thinking the bike would stop. This bike had to have sped up to beat the light

For "J", the Director of Transportation should be notified. The number for the transportation department will also be on the website. Again, I am so sorry for your loss. Im so sorry for you Christine Johnson and your family. My friend and i were there at the scene minutes after the the accident. My friend deeply empathize for you and your family during this difficult untimely moment. She couldn't stop thinking and feeling for them of never having that precious moment to say good bye and to say what matters from the heart. I couldn't stop dreaming about her last....and wishing she could of got up and brush the dirt off her shirt and said " i'm alright... I'm ok." My friend and i both have motorcycles.. which now we're not so sure of riding them after this, but i don't understand if he's a professional bike racer... Why they didn't wear helmets..? And for the young Jersey driver.. please make sure that driver wasn't drinking cuz him and girlfriend were dressed as if they were at a wedding or some type of party.. I'm not bashing the guy, but looking at the scene of accident.. There was no reason for that to happen unless it poor judgement involve. But i do ask you of this Christine... If you can find it in your heart to sit down and talk to that young Jersey driver... He is suffering too! I saw his reaction when he realized she passed on.. He wanted to switch places with her and he was hysterically crying and hyperventillating...

This is a terrible loss. I am sorry for the loss....... I too ride bikes. There are many, many people who do not look out for cars let alone bikes. Must we say it again, slow down, look all around and double check at all times! EVERYONE is always in a hurry but that 2 seconds will make the difference! I think that everyone needs to ride on a bike or even drive the bike and see how intimidating a car can be let alone a SUV etc. NO ONE is perfect. There are jerky people on bikes as well as in cars/trucks. Don't be one of those people. I too lost someone in a motorcycle accident. Prayers sent to the families....

@Dan - Your comments are not only crude but putting blame without knowing the facts at this point is just plain stupidity on your part. Regardless of who was to blame at this point, while there are some cyclists who do not obey the rules of the road and take chances, the majority are responsible and we as drivers of cars need to be aware that we are driving 3,000 plus pounds of steel vs. a bike. So have some consideration for the families who lost loved ones and hopefully you never have to experience such a tragedy in your own life.

Ingrid so very true. It does not matter at this point who's fault it is. That does not matter even the slightest it was an accident that tragically killed my neice and nephews mom and her boyfriend who has adult children. That is what matters my neice is 19 and nephew is just 15. This is devistating. And no ones fault unless alcohol was involved. Please don't place blame, just pray for the families of the victims as well as the driver of the vehicle.....

@Christine.. Thanks for letting me know she had her helmet on... I didn't see it on her or around her-that's why i asked if they big were wearing one. I want everybody to know that young Jersey driver was so emotionally heart broken... You can clearly see that he felt as if had done that to his mom! Christine you can find out his name in the police report and since you are related... You have rights to those documents and names of the party or go online and look at civil docket search under that county. Anybody else out there in world reading these comments... If you ever in your witness a tragedy like this in the street or you are related to anybody of this tragedy like Christine... PLEASE SHARE YOURSELVES either if you were a witness on the scene or the actual participating party from either side because it helps answers some questions, be able to heal knowing that the person didn't passed away alone and there were people helping and praying, and giving information that investigators would never be able to give which is the impact of thsee type of tragedy connects us to people we never know or ever see.

So long, 'Jack', we hardly knew ye.
John was my younger brother's best buddy through the years when the family lived on Jeffrey Lane. My brother, sadly, informed me of this tragedy yesterday, and knowing John myself, I felt deflated for a life younger than mine gone in an instant.
So as it now must be as with the younger brother that I lost two years ago; John will remain forever young in my memory and as a part of those sunlit days spent wandering the fields of our youth, traveling together, forever 10 years old and hopeful. May God soothe the hurt of such a tremendous loss and allow for us to remember that our lives touch each other's as ever-falling dominoes.

They were both wearing helmets. And to Dan Mulvihill who wrote a comment that should driver's of car's bend over backwards for people on motorcycle's ? You are frigin right they should. I was in an accident 3 years ago on my bike and do you no how it happened ????? A guy in a car trying to beat me out. I was just riding down 413 and he turned to get into the shopping center cause he was in a hurry. He saw me. He didn't use his brakes or his turn signal. Just turned. Well I went flying, my bike got back up and started riding down the road. And I was rolling 70 feet like a rag doll down the street , the bike just about ran me over. My hair was in my foot pegs. The funny thing was I was on my was to my girlfriends house who was just having a get well party from her accident on her bike, where a guy ran the red light and hit her on Street rd and knight's rd. She blew right out of her shoe's. Her helmet went flying off her head he hit her so hard. So yes he was responsible for there deaths. Give the bikers a break you ass. He was in a hurry to turn and hit and killed them. A good friend of mine was right behind them riding whit them. You don't know what the happen and ur comment really sucks.

Well Jack, I'm gonna miss ya. The line at Calvary went about 5 football fields long. (I know cos I went thru it 2x's, once with John Pultro and once with Jamie Burtt) Kathy, Johnathan & the girls said things that reminded us ALL about Jesus, and in whose presence you stand right now. You'll be glad to know that Tim Patrick didn't waste a breath getting the gospel out, complete with an alter call....you'd be proud of him. Only your family spoke, and I rekon it's a good thing. If they opened the mic for folks to share about you, we'd still be there, and only 1/2 way thru. Jack, do you have any idea how many people whose lives you touched? I'm telling ya buddy...we're gonna have one HOOT of a get together when we're all standing at the Throne of God together! I can hardly wait...
So yer Home now, safe in the arms of Jesus, and we'll have no undue fuss about you leaving us so soon. It's guys like you, who helped make our burdon's lighter, made us laugh harder and make us stop and wonder, at the Glory of God and his plan for our lives.
See ya at the Tree of Life.

Kathy I am so very sorry you are hurting. It seems you are leading everyone to believe you were happily married when in fact Jack had been seeing Ellen for at the very least a year and a half. He actually filed for divorce in spite of the "marriage intervention" you and your pastors tried. You also know more about her then you lead everyone to believe in your interviews. Jack had every intention of spending Saturday night with Ellen which means he would have been with her Sunday. May God be with you in your time of pain and also guide you into being truthful to yourself and others so as not to make a dead woman look as if she were interfering in a happy marriage when in fact it was anything but.

Christine - I knew Ellen. I spoke with her. Everytime I asked Jack about her, he told me he broke up with her. I even have an email from her dated the second week of May verifying they were broke up and she had not seen him for two weeks. Jack was struggling to do the right thing in the marriage. I was the one who filed for divorce because the pain of adultry was too much for me to bear. I never once stopped loving him. He even said right in front of me and Ellen that he did not want to be divorced. When I came out of work on Friday, June 29, I found a gift of gold earrings and a card in my car for my birthday. He signed the card "I love you". He bought the earrings at his Aunt's store and when I spoke with her at the viewing, she told me he also picked up his wedding ring that he had re-sized. He would text me good morning and good night up until June 29. He had been meeting with the pastor of the church and the pastor shared with me the last two meetings he had with him. Very personal for me. Please do not presume you knew him from the few encounters you had and the small bit of information you were given. Jack had a divided heart but I will always believe that he truly loved me and we would have worked things out. My heart is sad for you and your family and I am very sorry for your loss.

Some of the comments made are unthinkable. Such lack of regard for a grieving widow & family & THE TRUTH of the situation from God's view point. God makes it VERY clear in His divinely inspired Word, that marriage is "until death..."...w/ ONLY . 1 exception, permission to divorce for adultery. That is God's grace b/c He KNOWS that some people cannot recover from that. This is all in the Bible, not rules men made up. HOWEVER, Kathy's choice was to remain faithful, walk in fellowship w/ God, pray for her husband & marriage, seek Godly council, forgive repeatedly and give Jack total respect and honor God when she eulogized him. Respect is what God's commands a wife give her husband. All her actions were and are Christ like and completely in order with God's will. Marriage is sacred...Holy. ALL "relationship" outside of marriage IS ADULTERY. He was still married! God is more than able to restore a marriage to "better than before" if both parties surrender to God and repent and woe to anyone who interfere's in what God is doing. God's opinion IS THE ONLY ONE THAT COUNTS. Bible warn's that the world will hate us Christians & God's Word we speak. A 29 year marriage & bearing someone's children can NEVER be overshadowed by an "fling" that should not be. My view is "qualified" b/c I have lived in each of these positions BEFORE I repented, returned to Christ & am in a Christ centered marriage. My compassion for E's children is great as well, with these circumstances...
