The implementation of the new voter ID law was timed ( along with the other 20+/- states) to impact this years Presidential election. The people who will not have the appropriate government ID's are part of the "47%" that Romney knows will vote for Obama. These people will also not have the transportation/ easy access to birth certificates, etc. that will allow them to get the ID's in the time period allowed. I am NOT against voter ID's...just the timing of this measure.

The timing was exactly correct... to prevent those unworthy of voting because they don't know how to vote rationally from their brains but only from their emotions which so often betray logical thinking. Why would the timing be for this most critical to America election. DUH! I don't believe it's 47% that are unworthy but enough of a percent that should not be able to vote that will make a difference and those of us who are legal and reasonably wise will suffer for it. Logically, those who fought the ruling know that the illegals and unwise will vote for their own selfish gain and not the greater good of America. If o gets in again, kiss America goodbye.

So mary, only those who can pass an intelligence test should vote? Maybe you can roll that out with your selective breeding campaign, and free abortions for the unemployed. Make sure you get those good aryan genes though, the fuhrer would of been proud.

Yes, I just played the Nazi card, because your comment is that f'ing stupid.

Ed Roper, you, sir, are really not all that intelligent. You're insulting someone who appears to be on your side. Also, it's wildly inappropriate to "play the Nazi card."

Rebecca B, nobody is making intelligent arguments in any of these threads. Its devolved into sick entertainment because people just like to hear themselves talk. Only thing missing is some popcorn and a comfy chair to watch the freak show.

@Ed Roper Why do you make such offensive statements? Oh, I see. In your own words, which describes your own comments"...PEOPLE JUST LIKE TO HEAR THEMSELVES TALK".

Dot, implying that only the "worthy" should be allowed to vote is as offensive and disgusting a comment as they come. Mary's ideology is disgusting, and thus deserves an equally disgusting rebuttal.

Please...now that is really idiotic. I would like you to show me the statistics that show 47% of U.S. citizens who do not have any form of picture i.d. The ones who don't are illegals and do not have the right to vote anyway but whose votes Obama supporters want. This is clearly why those against voter i.d. are up in arms.

It's not that people don't want to show an ID, are too dumb to get one, or they have something to hide. The Photo-ID law requires people to produce a driver's license (many people don't drive), or a passport (many people don't have one), or a dated college ID (most don't have an expiration date). The ID choices should include IDs that are easilty accessible to anyone that wants to vote.

IDs are easily available and I have helped get them for people. A simple state ID is easily and freely obtained and that fact that you are not aware of that fact says to me that maybe you should not be able to vote.. I know someone who had to show ID just to get a prescription. ID's are necessary for almost everything today and those who don't have them show that they are not aware enough to what our world is all about today and therefore unworthy of voting. I do not believe in "one person; one vote". One should have to have a modicum of political awareness and everyday savvy to intelligently vote. Liberals count on the lack of those attributes in voters to win. There is documented voter fraud in PA, especially in the big cities.

Hey Mary, stop comment you're late for your klan meeting. Need to make sure you and your ilk can discuss how to keep those 'undesirables' from voting. Maybe you need some sort of 'final solution' to the problem.

Unbelievable! You actually have to show/prove that you are permitted to take part in our most cherished right; voting. Our Judge finds that not necessary!? Inexplicable, has nothing to do with politics but is way beyond any reason and logic.

so how much money has the State of PA wasted on this?
are the Democrats smart enough to make the GOP responsible for this reckless spending?

Tom: Do you think my 92 year old mother is stupid? She does not drive and her passport expired, which at 92 she is not jaunting off for global trips. But she is smart, has all her faculties and can probably kick your butt, is she stupid and lazy? Perhaps she is too stupid and lazy to pay taxes to PA. Perhaps you'd like to take off from work and drive her to Norristown PENN DOTT and sit with her all day and wait in line.

Of course your Mom isn't stupid! In the past she drove, traveled, bought a house with your Dad, rented an apartment, opened a bank account, cashed a check and a myriad of other activities which required a photo ID. At the very least, at this point in time, she receives health care, which requires her to show a photo ID when she arrives at any medical facility. How does that fit into this narrative? Pussycat, perhaps your Mom has not received the assistance she needs to get an ID. If my Mom were in that position, I certainly would help her. As soon as the first hearing in Harrisburg concluded, Ms. Applewhite, the lady who was a witness for the "oppressed" who did not have IDs, was helped to get her photo ID right away. SOMEONE TOOK HER OUT AND HELPED HER TO GET THE ID.

Are you too stupid and lazy to help her get one or maybe another friend? There has been plenty of notice to accomplish this and the patriotic should be willing to sacrifice to save our country. I'm sure your mom is able to accomplish everything else she needs to get done by herself or with others help; God bless her. Maybe a caveat could be made to the Bill for an exemption for those over 85. It's the younger illegals and the dead who are causing the fraud. There is outright fraud and people need to acknowledge this or America is going down.

IT WOULDN'T HAVE WORKED ANYWAY for the simple reason ID's still wouldn't have been checked properly by those that were in the position to control it.
People should have to vote with their FINGERPRINTS!
However, people AFRAID of a true vote would probably find a way to rig that too!

For real - our economy keeps declining and you gave him and his family a FREE ticket for life with the last term and now you want to give him another ? Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen.

Think about that for a second. Voting is our most cherished right...therefore one should be able to prove they actually have the right to vote before they do. ID's are free and can be printed out instantly. There is 35 days until the election. That is plenty of time to find a ride to the penndot facility.

That's why you have to register to vote. If we, as a society, decide we want to require IDs to vote, let's at least make sure we're doing it in a way that is as broadly available as possible - poor people, busy people, lazy people, easily-distracted people, and uninformed people all share the same right to vote.

They should abolish ALL photo ID's. I should be able to go to YOUR bank, give them YOUR numbers, and walk out with YOUR money. Then use YOUR doctor and YOUR medical insurance before I cast a vote in YOUR name. If I get a traffic ticket on the way home, Ill give the YOUR name and address. All I need is a smile and some numbers??

No GOP'er will touch this quote::

"Republican House Majority Leader Mike Turzai made waves in June when he said at the Republican State Committee meeting that the voter ID law “is going to allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania.”

This law was not designed to prevent fraud, but to perpetuate it. Clearly designed to disenfranchise voters and ensure a "win" for the GOP. But your blindly cognitive dissonance you all seem to suffer from won't ever let you see that.

Hey Ed,
Only fraud and stupidity put most liberals in office. All their rhetoric sounds good to the unworthy or uninformed. In the long run America will suffer for it. And your accusation that I am in so many words, a racist, is so wrong. You don't know me or my relatives; some of which are so called minorities whom I love. I love all peoples and want those who are legal to vote even if I disagree with them; that is their right as citizens. Sorry you are so snowed by current bullshit. The vote in PA may have been saved for Romney because FRAUD would be curtailed which is why the law is needed so Mike Turzai spoke the truth; something the likes of you do not understand. I've said my peace which for now is still allowed in America. If o wins that won't last very long; he is a cheshire cat.

During this campaign I have spoken to both Democrats and Republicans in our Blue Bell neighborhood. I have heard my neighbors from both sides quote many a 'sound bite' as if it were the truth. These neighbors are college educated, wealthy and span the generations. They have not studied the issues and believe the 'sound bites' are the truth. My point is that there are uninformed people at all levels in our society. This is a quote from Mary Brokway's post on 10/3 "I do not believe in "one person; one vote". One should have to have a modicum of political awareness and everyday savvy to intelligently vote." Would that pertain to my
Blue Bell neighbors? I hate to break it to you, but it is not just the poor and minorities that lack in Mary's words " a modicum of political awareness and everyday savvy to intelligently vote." It is our Blue Bell residents too, most of whom are insulated from the poverty, hunger, sickness and sorrow that is present in our country. Because we are Americans we believe everyone's voice should be heard. Any standard less than that is Un- American. We built this country with those values and to not honor them is to spit in the face of every man or woman who gave their life to defend us. Visit Arlington National Cemetery for a wake up call. Lets turn off the TV and educate ourselves on the issues and party platforms. Then we can have a productive conversation. God help America.

Yes, Nan, we appear unable to truly help ourselves. Humanity is drowning not just in increasing worthless monetary currency, poisoned food, water, and air, but lethal energy sources too. This doesn't have to be this way. It is just a choice. We could choose a path that leads to life, not death. It's a mystery why we choose deadly answers for ourselves, our children, and our planet. We have all the answers for a better world at our fingertips, all the answers. Let's hope that those who can truly change their world will chose to leave of legacy of life not death behind them. They are running out of time to choose for themselves, their people, and our earth. Let's hope for their sakes that they wake up here rather than elsewhere, beyond the ability to change even their own fate, let alone the fate of their people or planet. Time is running out to prove we care.
