So we just get our email newsletter reminding us about next Thursday night meet the teacher night. And below it what it says:
Because parking is limited, the school district will
provide a shuttle service from Klinger Middle School to Davis, which will begin
running at 5:45 and continue until the end of the evening. Please see the schedule for “Back to School”
night listed below. We look forward to
seeing everyone on Thursday!
Shuttle buses are you kidden! This Township and School Board is crazy for allowing this to happen. So that means family nights, meet the teacher, school functions, concerts we will be shuttled from Klinger. Way to go. If it was someone purchasing property placing their business on land they would be all over them for parking spaces and for drainage. Well open your eyes people Centennial School Board got away with murder. " We have water everywhere, stagment and smells really bad. Balls fall into water and God forbid a child gets Mersa, and the lovely parking that doesn't accomodate families for our children"

You at the Patch sure like to stir up the pot. Every school night and special night at any of the old schools never had enough parking for all the parents in the past, either. They would park all throughout the streets around the neighborhoods. Now times that by 3, because the new schools have 3 times the students than the old schools. There is no way they could have made around 1000 spots available for a few major events. They actually would probably need more than that because some parents come to these events in separate cars.
McDonald School in the past has had to use parking at William Tennent, Willowdale has had to use parking at Log College and now Davis will have to use parking at Klinger.
As for the drainage. Every new structure whether it be commercial, private, or munincipal has drainage issues in the beginning. They will get it resolved.
Mersa, really! Let's stop the hysteria!

Go out back of the school and smell the standing water. The balls are rolling into and the kids are trying to get into. It smells like a dump

Southampton Parent would complain if they didn't offer shuttle buses and ( god forbid) ask people to walk from Klinger. She/He is probably the one in the minvan or SUV with those gaudy magnetic ribbons supporting everything from the Eagles to what kind of a dog she has and how shes proud of her eagle scout.

Wow Michelle you are wrong. Not me at all. Just a tax payer pissed off about the waste of money spent and going to be spent and not done correctly. So what is it going to cost for the gas and the bus driver? Is it going to be an excuse to get more money from us? Do you know soap dispensers were falling off the wall in the new building and the ceiling was dripping during rain storms. Well I don't have guady magnets or ribbons and don't support everything so sorry. I just watch out for the children may it be mine and others in the school so get over yourself.

I don't understand why they didn't split this event up into K-2 and 3-5, on 2 separate days.

The complaints just never stop. I'm glad to see that my tax dollars went into building new schools. My kids are ecstatic to be in a brand new beautiful school. Who cares that the soap dispensers are coming out of the walls. Have you ever had a project in your house without glitches. Big deal they will screw them back in. Oh and btw how did you feel about your kid being in school in 100 degrees with no air conditioning?! I think that's a little more serious than soap dispensers. Did you ever notice the smell inside stackpole or that the air was stail in there because they had no ventilation. FYI - you don't get Mersa from poor drainage!

Yeah I did have a project in my house and when there was something wrong I went after the problem to get it fixed. So that is why this is out there. Problems not being solved. Contractors still around. Are we paying for the overtime? Was there a deadline? you may have the money to pay but I don't. Also please give it a rest. Kids now a day are spoiled with air conditioning. i went to school with no air for 12 yrs. Stackpole wasn't that bad. Stail air in stackpole because the teachers didn't want to open their windows or use the fans that the home and school purchased for each classrooms years ago. It's the so called looking pond out back and yes you can get mersa from it.

Also the news keeps telling us to get rid of the standing water because of the west nile virus being out of control. Well Davis is contributing to the breeding ground for mosquitos. There is some kind of material under the mulch so the water still is not draining. So that water will be there always. It has been beautiful out and the water is going no where and the mosquitos and dragon flies love it.

Many other things wrong in that school not being told. Mersa you get from the standing water and the scum that is in that water. Everyday those kids are trying to get the balls or the aides have to go in the water and get the balls and the kids hands are all over the wet balls. Did you see the girl on the news who lost her limbs from mersa in a creek? Well that's what it looks like out back where the kids are playing. so get over yourself AB and when your kid comes home crying about don't be the first to complain

I think the new school is beautiful and was much needed, yes, there are some wrinkles that I'm sure will be ironed out. Everything new takes time to organize and see where the problems are so they can be addressed. That being said......A problem that I see not getting any better is "Southampton Parent" doing nothing but complaining. You should consider yourself quite lucky to have the time to be so all consumed with every single thing that has been going on with the new school. And by the way.......mersa is a resistant bacterial infection that can be spread on mats and person to person by casual skin contact as well. Uh-oh.....I just gave you something else to worry about.

grow up nothing was getting done about the drainage till now that it is being talked about and it is meet the teacher night tonight. Amazing how we just get an email before everyone goes to school tonight that finally they will be doing something about the drainage. So if you don't complain things will not be resolved so get over yourself

LOL....So you think that the only reason the drainage issue is being fixed now is because of your complaining. It could not be that they needed to consult a company that takes care of these things and schedule a time for the work to be done that works best for all involved.

Hey, Just me, I don't think the district would have done much about the drainage problem without the complaining. This drainage problem has been there since the summer. Months before the school opened. Don't you think that would have been a more reasonable time to fix it? You know, before the start of school, when noone involved would have been inconvenienced.

No I don't think so. It's been on deaf ears. But it sure is amazing that right before hundreds of people are coming to the school tonight that they jump on it before people jump on them.

Well, at Davis, back in the old days, parents could park on the grass. Because it was LEVEL....
Maybe if that big hill wasn't there, more parents could drive and park.

Thank You Southampton Parent for caring about all of the kids and trying to make people aware of a potentially serious problem that others chose to ignore. Some people just choose to be ignorant and judgemental. Be thankful someone cares enough to speak up. I am sure they did not just post about it but also brought it to the higher ups attention, but like most things brought up to the board it lands on deaf ears until the board needs to show off what they accomplished.
