KidsPeace Can Help Families Process School Shooting

The shooting spree that left at least 26 people dead at a Newtown, Conn., elementary school this morning is the latest in a string of violent crimes in public places over the past year.

For those involved in such horrific tragedies, it is difficult to determine where to even begin the process of working through grief to healing. It’s natural for this type of violence to cause anxiety and fear even in people who were not directly affected.

KidsPeace is here to help children, parents and communities process such a senseless crime. Julius Licata, Ph.D., Director of ParentCentral.Net and TeenCentral.Net, is available to speak about the short-and long-term impact of such events, as well as to offer guidance on how to talk to children about the shooting and help them process what occurred.

KidsPeace is proud to celebrate 130 years of giving hope, help and healing to children, families and communities. For more information, like our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter @KidsPeace.

anything to get a finger in the pie, eh, Kidspeace? Oh, and while you're busy calling us, get your insurance card, medical assistance number and any other way we can get $$$ for this 'assistance'....Hey, maybe if the feds step in to offer aid to the victim's families, you can hop on that gravy train too.

KidsPeace does not charge for the work of its CIRT. It's important in the face of this tragedy to reach out to each other, help where we can and highlight the mental health services available to those in need.

Please remember, while there have been negative stories about kidspeace, kidspeace employs thousands of counselors, my husband being one of them, he is trained and has worked in this field for over 20 years, so keep your assinine comments to yourself and let this company offer the help that many families need right now in dealing with this tragedy. You people and your posts are just sick, you should be ashamed!

I wouldn't send a twitchy farm animal to Kidspeace.....and yeah, I've known people who worked there.....no good reports there, as no reports of merit from people who had their kids treated there...for the 30 days the insurance paid....then 'see ya, don't call us, we'll call you'..... This is just one more way to piggyback themselves on the tragedy to try to make themselves look relevant at this time. Relevance to them equals $$$$$$.......see what we did, now send us your kids. Not in this lifetime. I stand by my original statement........the only 'help' they are interested in is their own pockets.

Sorry you feel that way Gramma. We have heard from many parents of children we've helped, as well as from some kids who have grown up and realized the impact KidsPeace made on their lives. I'm sure it's difficult for some people to understand the impact the treatment we offer could have unless you or a loved one has needed those services.
