With the end of April also bringing the end of Autism Awareness Month, the students and staff at Stackpole Elementary were reminded that those afflicted with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families have to deal with it the other 11 months of the year. Friday morning, Stackpole held its final Walk for Wellness before it closes its doors for good. Students and staffmembers collected $6,000 and donated it to the Bucks County Autism Support Coalition.
Just hours before the Hess station building at the corner of Second Street Pike and Street Road was taken down, members from the all-volunteer Southampton Fire Company used the building as a training ground. Tuesday just after nightfall, firefighters climbed onto shingled roof of the building, which formally housed an auto repair shop, and used power saws, chainsaws and other equipment to vent the roof, Chief Glenn McKenney said. Southampton firefighters don't often get to practice venting the roof of a real building, but, McKenney said, they are grateful for the chance. Aside from an active …
William Tennent High School's performances of "Smokey Joe's Cafe," a musical revue, began Thursday evening and continue through the weekend.  The show is filled with over 30 early rock-and-roll tunes written by the famed Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. "Hound Dog," "Stand By Me," "Keep on Rollin' " and "Poison Ivy" are some of the many tunes performed by the cast. Performers have been rehearsing the show since February, director and music teacher Tyrone Dinkins said. The show will be performed Friday, March 29, and Saturday March 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the high school.
The 2012 Senior Sweetheart nominees are: Jenna Beck Kim Farrer Melanie Kostrzewa Katie Martin Chantelle Saleh William Tennent High School students will be able to vote for their choice for Senior Sweetheart and purchase tickets for this weekend's dance during lunch this week. The Southampton Railroad Station Society Second Annual Railfest featured operational toy train layouts, historical groups and exhibits, food and vendors, live music, face painting and  live train conductors at the North & Southampton Reformed Church Saturday. An actor portraying the infamous Phoebe Snow, the Lackawanna Railroad icon who rode the RR in the early 1900's  saying, “my gown stays white from morn to night on the road of anthracite,” was also circulating through the crowds.
