More About Tamanend Park
In 1975, Upper Southampton Township and Centennial School District partnered and purchased approximately 103 acres of land with the intent of forming a community park in Southampton. The school district constructed Klinger Middle School on a portion of the property and the remaining acreage is the natural park and recreation area known today as Tamanend Park.
There are several orginizations dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of the park, including the Friends of Tamanend Park and the Tamanend Park Herb Gardening Club.
The Friends of Tamanend gather on Saturday mornings to help with the maintenance and beautification of the park. They are working with a professional planer to develop a vision for upgrades to the parks existing offerings, as provided for in a recent revision to the township's comprehensive plan. The group also sponsors a number of activities in the park, including the Flea Market, Southampton Days and Tamanend Park Day.
Tamanend Park is governed by the township's Park and Recreation Board, a five-member board comprised of township residents who were appointed to their posts by the board of supervisors.
The park's office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
