NOVA receives $35K grant from Philadelphia Foundation

Network of Victim Assistance has received a $35,000 general operating support grant from The Philadelphia Foundation.

Three of The Foundation’s 900 component funds provided the money for the grant: the William M. and Helen M. Detwiler Memorial Fund, the Edward M. Story Memorial Fund in memory of his father, Samuel Story, and his mother, Mary Grosvenor, and the Walter E. Hering Fund #2.

R. Andrew Swinney, President of The Philadelphia Foundation, noted that NOVA had applied for the funding through The Foundation’s competitive grant process.

The grant was awarded after foundation staffers reviewed NOVA’s operations to assess its effectiveness. The Foundation uses the dollars with which it has been entrusted to strengthen the region’s nonprofits.

NOVA will use the money to support its prevention work in the schools and undertake a strategic planning process.

NOVA’s executive director Barbara Clark noted that “the organization is wrapping up a $1.9 million capital campaign and building its capacity to provide programming through the use of technology. It is a critical time to create a vision for the future through a thoughtful planning process. The Philadelphia Foundation’s support will help ensure a positive outcome.”
