Community and parish families enjoyed another successful year of the Our Lady of Good Counsel Carnival.

The Our Lady of Good Counsel annual carnival may have had a wet start this year, but a little rain certainly didn't dampen the community spirit of the three-day event.

"It's always succesful," Mary Luberda, Carnival Committee members, said.

The carnival took place on the church and school grounds from June 13 - 15. According to Luberda, a good way to gauge how many people participated in this year's carnival, by the final day of the carnival, over 11,000 tickets were sold for the $25,000 raffle.

Volunteers from the parish, including the new Knights of Columbus #15658, volunteered to facilitate the various attractions and games to help raise funds for the parish community.

"It's great, we love meeting the people," Joe Warner, Knights of Columbus member, said. "It's great to see the families together."

According to Luberda, the second day of the carnival was particularly special as the church's pastor, Rev. Monsignor Anthony D'Angelico, celebrated his 66th birthday. D'Angelico is credited for reviving and continuing the community carnival for the last 10 years. According to carnival committee members, the carnival itself originates in the 1980s.
