Rail Festival Honors U.S. Military

Vendors, military reenactors and model train displays were featured at the Southampton Railroad Station Society's first annual Armed Forces Day Railfest.

People from across the region came to the Southampton Railroad Station Society's Armed Forces Day Railfest at Klinger Middle School.

Attendees were greeted with a group of World War II reenactors, who brought a working 1942 Jeep and many other authentic items for display.

Inside visitors were greeted with a large display of working train displays and vendors who were selling train related equipment.

The Southampton Railroad Station Society had a display that showed the condition of the old train station and outlined their plans for it's future.

This was the first year for the Railfest. The group plans to hold a small but similar event in Churchville in the coming months.

The goal of the event was to raise funds and awareness to help rehab the old train station, said Jon Frey, a Southampton Railroad Station Society board member.
