Regional Roundup: Striking Teachers Must Return to Class by June 15

And the teacher who was blogging about her students could be out of a job.

: At the most recent Neshaminy School Board meeting, officials announced that striking Neshaminy teachers must return to their classrooms by June 15. : Natalie Munroe's lawyer said the Central Bucks School District is expected to recommend firing her at a school board meeting on June 26. Some of the teacher's online comments about her students included "A complete and utter jerk in all ways," "Lazy a--hole," and "There’s no other way to say this: I hate your kid." On June 4, Settlement Music School held an “Ensemble Day” recital at its Willow Grove Branch, highlighting the varied student ensembles of the school. The event is a culmination of ensemble music studies at Settlement’s Willow Grove branch from its school year. Listed in the program were 12 such ensembles made up of over 45 Settlement students.

Two Simmons Elementary School students received high marks in the school and college ability test from Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. Zach Shapiro earned a math score of 463, which is in the 99th percentile and a verbal score of 431, which is in the 70th percentile, while Colby Brundin earned a math score of 493, which is in the 96th percentile and a verbal score of 456, which is in the 72nd percentile. The new plans feature 20,000 square feet of retail space in two buildings plus 26 apartment rental units. The Newtown Township Planning Commission on Tuesday unanimously voted to recommend that the township Board of Supervisors approve a revised application for the project. The Neshaminy School District will hold a telephone town hall meeting Wednesday night. The community on the town hall call will hear information about the budget, arbitration, fund balance and they will also have an opportunity to have a question and answer session with the administration and members of the negotiation team. The total revenue from all 11 state casinos was over $212 million. Parx Casino led the way in May with $32.6 million in slot machine revenue.
