Junior High Facilities Probed by Board

Member of the Centennial Joint School Board bombarded a state education official with more than four hours of questions regarding alternative solutions to the overcrowding expected at the junior high level in the district in the upcoming year.

School Board President Ryland Stock told The Star the main questions centered on if it was a good idea to build a separate facility for the 7th and 8th graders, and if state reimbursements would be affected by such a move.

Superintendent of the Department of Public Instruction Dr. Charles Boehm said he could see no objection from the state to a 7th and 8th grade arrangement. In fact, he indicated that such a set up was practical.

Southampton Woman Wins Two TV Contests

Mrs. George Partridge, of Temple Road, is not only the happy winner of a local TV contest. She was also selected as the winner of a national contest run by the Colgate-Palmolive Co.

The first prize was awarded for her entry in a do-it-yourself contest run by WFIL-TV. Partridge won a jigsaw for suggesting using two tripods to support a pulley system to hold her freshly ironed clothing.

In the Colgate-Palmolive contest, Partridge won a remote control portable television for a 25-word essay in which she described why Colgate products were her favorite.

Tastee-Freez offered Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer at 40¢ a quart and 95¢ a gallon, one dozen ice cream sandwiches for $1.10, and pizza pies for 50¢ and $1.
