The Park and Rec Director wants to charge sports organizations for use of township facilities.

Basketball would PAY for the use of the gym. Baseball, Softball, Football and Soccer would PAY for the use of the fields. This would increase your fee to play sports in the township to cover these additional costs.

Upper Southampton Parks and Recreation Director Marian Gilbert said the statement is all simply hearsay.

“It's all a not true. There is no agenda item of any kind,” Gilbert wrote in an email to Patch.

Township Manager Joe Golden said the talk of charging sports clubs is simply a rumor that has been circulating around town, and that there is no truth to the matter.

“The Township has no intention of charging fees to the sports clubs for the use of its facilities, whether it be the gym or meeting rooms in the community center or the athletic fields, said Golden.

“The sports clubs are a valuable resource to the Township and provide much needed recreational programs for the youth of the community,” he said.
