Will Supermoon Be Visible Over Southampton Monday?
The moon will be quite close to earth when it's full on Monday, making it look bigger and brighter if you can see it.
Showers are likely in Southampton on Monday night, according to the National Weather Service, and rain clouds will make it more difficult to see the full moon, known fittingly as a Thunder Moon because of seasonal thunderstorms that blow through in July.
The big, bright moon is also called a Buck Moon because it's time for male deer to sprout their antlers, according to a Brevard Times article.
The July 22 full moon will not be as "super" as the Supermoon that occurred in June, when the moon was at its closest point to the earth.
But July's full moon will occur one day after the moon is closest to earth for this month's orbit, according to Earth Sky.
July's occurrence will actually be the third Supermoon of the year.
