Academy of Natural Sciences Announces Free Admission for Soldiers and Their Families

The Philadelphia museum is just one of many on a list of area attractions waiving the admission charge for Military personnel and their families for the whole summer.

The Academy of Natural Sciences has announced it will offer free admission all summer for active-duty military personnel and their families. From now through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5, active-duty service members and up to five family members will be admitted free.

“We are proud of our military and are pleased that we can do something to show our appreciation for their dedicated service,” said Academy President and CEO George W. Gephart Jr.

The Academy joins more than 1,300 museums across the country offering the benefit throughBlue Star Museums, a partnership with theNational Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families.

The offer comes just in time for the Academy’s new summer exhibit, Fore! The Planet.This interactive exhibit features 18 holes of indoor miniature golf where  players test their putting skills along with their environmental know-how.Fore! The Planet is open through Sept. 25.

The museum is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $12.
