Halloween Roundup: Don't Miss these Haunted Events

Head to some of these haunted attractions this Halloween.

Whether you're looking for a haunted hayride or a terrifying tour through an old asylum, this list of Halloween attractions has many spooky events to check out, but be sure to read the descriptions, as some of these Halloween attractions are not suitable for young children. This list isn't comprehensive, so if you know of a haunted house or hayride, add it in the comments.

Sleepy Hollow at Active Acres Haunted Farm - 215-860-6855  

Take the hayride through the haunted woods and "the picturesque landscape by day becomes a living nightmare after dark." Dare to walk through the Field of Fright or through the haunted house, or warm up by a bonfire and enjoy live music. Sleepy Hollow is open every Friday through Sunday in October from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $14 through $45 depending on the package, but you can download a coupon from the farm's site.

Graeme Park Halloween Ghost Tour 215-915-9453

Join paranormal experts as they investigate six historic structures as well as the woods and grounds around the 42-acre property. Midnight supper with a "toast to the ghost" included in the $65 ticket price. The event begins Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. and continues through 2 a.m. on Oct. 23.

Hatboro Haunts 215-956-9540

Hatboro's Miller Meadow, located at York and Horsham roads, will transform into a Halloween extravaganza for the annual Hatboro Haunts, where the evil deeds of Hatboro's Mad Hatter, Damien Lester, are about to be revealed. Are you brave enough to take the haunted cemetery hay ride, the terrifying thrill rides? If so...be ready for the night of your life! Recommended for kids 13 and up. Ghost Tours of New Hope - 215-243-5564

Take a lantern-lit walk through the streets of New Hope and hear stories of the phantom hitchhiker. The tours were founded by Author Adi-Kent Thomas Jeffrey, who wrote "Ghosts in the Valley," Haunted Village and Valley" and more. Tours meet at 8 p.m. at Main and Ferry Streets on Friday and Saturdays in October. Tickets are $10 per person.

Horrorfest at Shady Brook Farms - 215-968-1670

Horrorfest is made up of four events: the Hayride of Horror, Barn of Horror, 3-D Alien Encounter and Carnage. See how brave you are by taking a tour through the Barn of Horror where "night terrors [are] trapped under one roof." All events are suitable for children, except for Carnage, which has graphic content that is not recommended for those under the age of 10. Horrorfest runs from 7 - 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sundays. A variety of passes are available from $15 to $50 depending on the package.

Pennhurst Asylum - 484-866-8963

Visit Philadelphia's Pennhurst Asylum where you'll take a walk through the 100 year old Pennhurst State School building. New for 2011, the attraction also includes The Dungeon of Lost Souls—a labyrinth of old cells where human experiments have gone wrong. The Tunnel of Terror will take you underneath the old state school. Then, armed with a flashlight, visitors are invited to take a self-guided tour through the Mayflower Building, which has been featured on "Ghost Hunters" and "Ghost Adventures." Tickets start at $15 for individual attractions and go up to $75 for VIP passes, and get $5 off when you download a coupon from the Web site.

The Bates Motel - 610-459-0647

Open daily through Halloween, the Bates Motel is an interactive haunted attraction. The tour is a high startle, high action attraction and is not recommended for children under 8 or people with heart conditions. The Victorian mansion is full of actors and animatronics to make your tour memorable. Take a 25 minute haunted hayride through Arasapha Farm or dare to venture through the haunted corn trail. Tickets are $12 to $75.

The Valley of Fear - 215-942-9787

Head to Feasterville for four haunted attractions, including haunted hayride, Scary Tales haunted forest and two haunted houses (the Zombie Research & Control Facility and Captain Willies Shipwreck Cove). Live bands, radio personalities and more will entertain the crowds every night. The Valley of Fear's attractions run from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sundays until Oct. 23 then Wednesday, Oct. 26 through Monday, Oct. 31. Get discounts and coupons online.
