Recruitment Event Planned for Displaced Lockheed Employees

Harris RF Communications and Government Commercial Division is seeking more than 100 engineers to fill openings in Rochester, Columbia, Md., Chelmsford, Mass. and Palm Bay, Fla.

A Rochester-based company is hosting a two-night recruitment event targeted towards employees of Lockheed Martin who will be displaced as a result of the closure of the Newtown plant. 

Harris RF Communications and Government Commercial Division is seeking more than 100 engineers to fill openings in Rochester, Columbia, Md., Chelmsford, Mass. and Palm Bay, Fla.

The recruitment event will be held Monday and Tuesday at the Brick Hotel. On Monday, there will be an information session from 6 to 8 p.m. In person interviews with hiring managers will be conducted Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

“Harris is adding these jobs in order to address opportunities from both U.S. and international customers. The openings are for engineers from across the full range of disciplines, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers and systems engineers,” said Corey Casher, talent acquisition manager for Harris RF Communications. 

The positions are permanent and full-time with relocation assistance provided, Casher said.

Lockheed Martin announced in November that it plans to close its Newtown facility by mid-2015. As a result of the closure, 800 of the 1,050 employees who work at the Newtown location, which specializes in space systems, will be laid off.
