Community Corner

5 Things: April 22

Tidbits of information to get you through your day.

1. Centennial School District: All schools are closed Monday, April 25. Enjoy the holiday!

2. Upper Southampton Township information: All administrative Township offices are closed today to recognize Good Friday. The Community Center will be closed today; will open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; will be closed Sunday.

3. Billboard Number One: Today in 1973, Tony Orlando and Dawn's "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree" topped the charts. Perhaps you won't necessarily do this action specifically, but you can make today the perfect day to celebrate nature. Watch a performance of this song, (possibly after you pick up your beverage mentioned in number five of this column).

4. Happy Earth Day! Almost daily, The Patch offers green tips to enhance your day (as this publication is inherently green in name and function). To render even the postal process green, you can purchase "go green" stamps, as they actually provide helpful hints to help reduce our carbon footprints.

5. Local green offering: Starbucks, located at Second Street Pike and Street Road, is providing free coffee to patrons who bring in travel mugs to celebrate Earth Day. Your free cup of joe will contribute to both the community and global green efforts!
