5 Things: April 29

Tidbits of information to help you start your weekend.

1. Centennial School District: Attention high school students—there is still time to register for the SAT for June 4. Click here for more information on dates and registration.

2. Upper Southampton Township:  Southampton Fire Company No. 1 is accepting applications for senior and junior firefighters in addition to fire police officer. View the PDF to start the application process. Good luck!

3. Billboard Number One: Today in 1966, The Young Rascals’ (later to be called The Rascals) “Good Lovin’”  topped the charts. Please tell me the 90s film in which this song is found. (I’ll give you hints: the setting is in Pennsylvania; the main character is a hypochondriac;  another song from this soundtrack was number one on the charts—and, of course, in this column at some point).  Click here to listen to the sounds of this blue-eyed soul band.

4.  Today is National Save The Frogs Day. Frogs, in fact, are endangered! Whether you’re a teacher or a business owner, you can help. Get started with the plethora of ideas provided.

5. Green tip for hair care: The Sierra Club advises that creating your own shampoo (and conditioner) can contribute to our green efforts. For shampoo, mix a tablespoon of baking soda and one cup of water. For conditioner, use two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and one cup of water for shine and strength.
