Community Corner

5 Things: Feb 11

Tidbids of information to help you get through the day.

1. Be in the know--Parents and guardians of Centennial School District students, and even additional Southampton residents, can receive notifications of the district's schools' and buildings' changes/news/updates instantly through e-mail and text-messaging through the e-alert system. Instructions for registration can be found at Centennial's website.

2. Misty watered colored memories: Billboard Number One song: Today in 1974, Barbra Streisand's "The Way We Were"  was number one on the Billboard Charts. On the soundtrack of the the film The Way We Were, starring both Streisand, as politically-driven, ambitious Katie Morosky, and Robert Redford, as lazy but talented Hubbell Gardiner, this film really poses the question: We know opposites attract, but does it ever work? I'll let you watch the film (and the live version of this song) and decide for yourself.

  3. "B-5! Bingo!" The Kiwanis of Southampton sponsors weekly  at from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m on Fridays. This activity has no registration fee and is open to the entire community. Don't forget your rabbit's foot or horseshoe!

4. Planning a fundraiser and need to get started? is just the place and partner! Offering unique packages and options for either holding your event in the restaurant or at The Mag Bar, Maggio's invites planners to call 215-364-4983 or visit their website for information regarding how they can enhance the success of an upcoming event.

5. Organizational tip of the day: Now that your car is dug out, and the weather is no interference, it's time to make your doctor's appointment that you have probably been putting off. Ask for a flu shot as well. You'll thank yourself later!
