5 Things: Feb. 22

Tidbits of information to get you through the day.

1. Centennial School District News: The School Board of Directors will have its meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the Centennial School District Administration Building located at 433 Centennial Road. Items of discussion include the redistricting plan and the approval of the appointments of superintendent and assistant superintendent.

  2. "Find out first." READYNotifyPA is an alert system in which Southampton residents can register in order to receive notifications regarding civic emergencies and road closures on their cell phones (iPhones and Blackberries included), pagers and e-mail accounts.

 3. "I'm the King of the World!" Billboard Number one: Today in 1998, Céline Dion's "My heart will go on" was number one on the charts. The theme song for the award-winning film "Titanic," (1997) this song, in my eyes, is the signature song of the 90s, and rightfully so, because it was one of the best-selling singles in music history.  View the video to remember the craze that surrounded the release of the award-winning film

4. National Day: Feb. 22 is "Be Humble Day." It may be hard not to brag sometimes, but today take some time to reflect on how to be rhetorically sensitive, especially if you are interacting with someone who is down and out. (According to the Food Channel, today is also National Margarita Day, but I believe the inclusion of a margarita in your day wouldn't be helpful on the road to humility).

 5. The Patch's Green Tip of the Day: Ammonia-based house cleaning products (sanitizers and laundry detergent included) are neither entirely safe nor healthful for your home environment. Try Greenworks, a line of natural cleaning products that can be purchased at your local or Amazon.com. Check here for coupons.
