Community Corner

5 Things: June 10

Tidbits of information to keep you refreshed during the heat.

1. Centennial School District: As a result of the extremely warm weather today, parents and guardians reserve the choice to not send their child(ren) to school or pick him/her up early. The absence will be deemed as excused.

2. Upper Southampton Township: As my editor Jennifer Mohan suggests, plan indoor activities. The USPR community center located at 913 Willow Street is offering bingo, as it does so every Friday, at 1 p.m.

 3. Billboard Number One: Today in 1990, Roxette’s “It must have been love" topped the charts. This song was featured in the film “Pretty Woman” starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. Most of us can probably recite its script verbatim. I’m neither embarrassed by this nor the video. (Ok, maybe a little).

 4. Today is the eighth annual Lemonade Days hosted by the Alex’sLemonade Stand Foundation. You can participate by buying Alex’s Lemonade flavored water ice at Rita’s Water Ice located at 2024 County Line Road, in Huntingdon Valley.

5. What you should know about water: Please view this New York Times’ investigation regarding the contaminants found in local water systems, including your own Township’s. Let me know what you think.
