Tidbits of information to make your Monday enjoyable.

1. Centennial School District: Just a reminder, the Parent Workshop-Write On: Linking Writing with Books is tonight at 6 p.m. in the McDonald-Davis Elementary School cafeteria.

2. Southampton News: Southampton intramural soccer registration (for athletes ages four through 18) for the 2011 season has been extended to June 15. Register here before time is up. For more information, please e-mail southamptonsoccer@comcast.net.

3. Billboard Number One: Today in 1989, Bette Midler’s “Wind Beneath My Wings” topped the charts. In addition to watching a performance, you can watch the tear-jerker Beaches, as this song is on this film’s soundtrack.

 4. Yesterday was National Cancer Survivors’ Day. In honor of those who have beat this disease or in treatment, take some time today to learn more about how can you help in the fight. The American Cancer Society provides information to learn more about causes, prevention and detection.

5. The Sierra Club encourages readers to be conscientious about electricity. When leaving work, turn off your computer and the power strip it’s connected to in order to save energy.
