5 Things: March 2

Tidbits of information to help you get through the day.

1. Kindergarten Registration: Centennial School District will be holding registration for kindergarten the 2011-2012 school at 7 p.m. at the following schools: Longstreth Elementary School, McDonald-Davis Elementary School, Stackpole Elementary School and Willow Dale Elementary School. Click here to review all of the important documents you should bring with you to tonight's meeting.

 2. Is your child's birthday coming up and he or she is a student in the Centennial School District? Well, the district wants to help with the baking of the birthday cake/other special dish. Click the following link to order your student's next birthday celebration treat that he or she can share with his classmates: http://www.centennialsd.org/19251063161414727/blank/browse.asp?a=383&BMDRN=2000&BCOB=0&c=56908&19251063161414727Nav=|&NodeID=120

3.  Billboard number one hit: Today in 1967, The Rolling Stones' "Ruby Tuesday" topped the charts. Interestingly enough, the Stones' media persona was designed to be a not-so-clean cut version, the opposition, of The Beatles. But, today, it wouldn't be such a strange concept to be a fan of both, as I am. Are you?

4. Starbucks wants be a part of that special someone's birthday, too! Starbucks offers the Starbucks Card which can allow you to place money on a card, like a gift card at first, and give to the birthday boy/girl. However, the recipient then can continue to re-load money onto the card for future use (which can earn him/her user stars) to receive rewards such as flavorings.

5. The Patch's Green tip of the day: I bet your home has an unlimited supply of paper and plastic bags from the grocery store, which at times, can be somewhat helpful. But perhaps for that serious shopping trip to the grocery store, you could switch to using durable tote bags, which not only saves the store from purchasing/manufacturing more bags, but it will remove the possible clutter that plastic and paper bags can often cause.
