3. Billboard Number One: Today in 1973, The Edgar Winter Group’s “Frankenstein” topped the charts. Frankenstein is one of my favorite pieces of literature (and film) as it answers so many questions about the extent of curiosity and human nature. I don’t appreciate, however, that our culture absentmindedly refers to the creature as Frankenstein. The creature remains nameless throughout the book and film. Anyway, here is for this song; I think it will thrill you.

4. Today is National Defense Transportation Day (as part of transportation week), which is a time to recognize the various contributions Americans make to our protection. In addition, today is Bike to Work Day. So, if you can, get out your bike from the garage and press a different kind of pedal for a change!
5. Green pointer of the day: The Sierra Club encourages readers to check their filters in their cars. (Of course, you can do this because you aren’t driving today if you read number four). Hold your filter up to the light. If no light is getting through, it’s time to change it.
