5 Things: May 3

Tidbits of information to get you through the day.

1. Centennial School District: 'Get in the mood' for CSD’s Fine Arts Festival—Jazz Night which begins tonight at 7:30 and is free of charge. Read the bulletin for all of the details.

2. Our Lady of Good Counsel: The nurse’s office at Our Lady of Good Counsel School is looking for parents and guardians who are registered nurses to lend their time and expertise. Please e-mail pfwinery@verizon.net for more information.

3. Billboard Number One: Today in 1977, The Eagles’ “Hotel California” topped the charts.  This song is never played on the radio. Ever.  (Ha!) The album which this song is found, bearing the same name, went platinum the same week it was released in December 1976. This video is unavailable on Youtube, but I think my sarcasm suggests that we have heard the song enough.

4.  Today is National Teacher Day! Take some time to recognize the value of educators in our lives, and perhaps, even re-connect with a teacher who has inspired you. The National Education Association has provided tips on how you can celebrate today.

5. Green tip of the day: The Sierra Club encourages readers to clean their cars. For every 100 pounds you have in your car, its fuel economy can decrease by one to two percent. (So yes, now would be a good time to take those old clothes in your backseat and trunk to be donated).
