Community Corner

5 Things: May 5

Tidbits of information to get you through the day.

1. Centennial School District: Tonight at 7:30 p.m. is Elementary  Music Night.  Please enjoy an evening in the Klinger Middle School auditorium with the district band, chorus and strings for an evening at the Fine Arts Festival.

2. Upper Southampton Township:  The Keystone Collections Group is the new tax collector for 2011 earned income and local service taxes. Please read more about this change on the Township’s web site.

3. Billboard Number One: Today in 1976, John Sebastian’s “Welcome Back” topped the charts.  The original version of this song, which was the theme for the sitcom “Welcome back, Kotter,” is actually unavailable on Youtube. But, I am sure you can take this time to reminisce about your favorite character i.e. John Travolta—Vinnie Barbarino.

4.  Today is Cinco de Mayo, and to celebrate, treat yourself and your family to a dinner at Las Margaritas at 765 Second Street Pike.

5. Community service update: The Sierra Club encourages readers to make green decisions even when choosing your beverages. At a restaurant, (perhaps even the one referenced in number four), ask for a beer that is on tap rather than one that is can or bottled.
