5 Things to Know for June 30

Tidbits of information to help get you through the day.

1. Summer Nutrition Tip: Now more than ever would be a good time to cut back on caffeine. Staying hydrated is key to remaining cool and healthy in this warm weather, and caffeine is one of the fastest means to dehydrates us.

2. Parks and Recreation: Tai Chi begins tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the  Carriage House. Please see page six of the Summer 2011 USPR newsletter for registration information.

 3. Billboard Number One: Today in 1944, Bing Crosby’s “I’ll be seeing you” topped the charts. Crosby had a way of capturing nostalgia and heartfelt sentiments in his music including other number one’s such as “White Christmas” and “I’ll be home for Christmas.” The number one hit for today appeared in the 1944 film I’ll be seeing you. Later generations know this hit as it was in arguably the most romantic movie of the first decade in the 2000s, The Notebook. (Unfortunately, this hit is not on Youtube).

5. The Environmental Protection Agency encourages individuals to consider conserving resources after a party, especially in the office. Be sure to share left over food with other co-workers, friends and family members, as opposed to throwing the untouched food away.
