On this day in 1964, The Beatles arrived in New York City to begin their first tour in the U.S. The band kicked off the tour by playing the Ed Sullivan Show on Feb. 9., and from there, the band continued on to play the Washington Coliseum on February 11th and then back to  New York City’s Carnegie Hall on February 12th. Each show was said to last  no longer than one half-hour.
