Homes Lose Power on Hot Summer Day

Dozens of homes and businesses in Upper Southampton and a portion of Lower Moreland lost power midday Monday.

Several homes and businesses near County Line Road lost power at around 11 a.m. Monday, PECO officials confirm.

A tree hit a wire in Upper Southampton and caused dozens of homes and businesses in the neighbourhoods off County Line Road to lose power, including residences in a small portion of Lower Moreland Township, PECO spokesperson Liz Williamson said.

Williamson confirmed the power was restored shortly before noon. She said as of this afternoon only six costumers remain in the dark as crews work to repair the damage.

The loss of power caused traffic signals to be darkened and the Restaurant on Second Street Pike to close for a short time.

Employees at manufacturing facilities along James Way were seen congregating outside of the buildings.

The short outage occurred as temperatures reached the high-80's.

The outage in Upper Southampton occurred around the same time SEPTA began experiencing power problems along it's Warminster Regional Rail line. Williamson said the two issues were not related.
