PECO: Problems with Underground Line Caused Outage in Southampton

Nearly 1700 customers in and around Southampton lost power this morning due to problems with an underground line.

Officials at PECO blame a problem with an underground cable for an outage that affect hundreds of customers in Southampton this morning.

Ben Armstrong, a senior communications specialist with PECO, said the problem began around 11:20 this morning when a cable that runs under the Heaton substation on Old York Road in Willow Grove began to malfunction.

"We are in the process of isolating the equipment and routing service around the problem," he said.
