Regional Roundup: Principal Responds to Students Selling Weapons on Facebook

: Last week Lower Moreland School District discovered that two middle school students created a Facebook group to sell their personal belongings to other kids in the district including athletic gear and electronic equipment. : Five local bakeries competed in a cupcake baking contest and created spring-themed displays, which could be seen at Feasterville's Select Jewelers Saturday afternoon. Langhorne's Van Earl's strawberry cupcakes came in first place, Schenk's Bakery's red velvet cupcakes places second while Rilling's pina colada cupcakes came in third. Bucks County officials said teams are working to ensure the safety of the Dow Chemical Plant in Bristol and surrounding community after a three-alarm fire caused two tanks to release chemicals in the air on May 16. Odors from two chemicals, Ethyl Acrylate and Butyl Acrylate, were released into the air following the incident, and Dow Chemical officials said the material is contained, but odors may still be a factor in the region as the cleanup continues.  Newtown's First Fourth celebration, which will be held July 7, may not feature the usual fireworks display due to a lack of funding, according to organizers.
