Twitter Turns 7: Follow Upper Southampton Patch

Twitter's seventh birthday is Thursday.

Seven years ago, on March 21, Twitter was born.

On March 21, 2006, co-founder Jack Dorsey sent the first-tweet that read, "just setting up my twttr," according to an article on MediaBistro.

At the beginning, the article said Twitter was first known as stat.us and then changed to Twttr, before finally becoming the social platform it is today.

Upper Southampton Patch uses Twitter to share articles and find story ideas. When covering a breaking news story, Twitter is one of the quickest ways to share updates. And it's just another way to engage with the community on a day-to-day basis.
