This course will focus on Battle of the Wilderness which marked the beginning of the most determined fighting by the Army of the Potomac. After the battle, Grant attempted to get between the Army of Virginia and Richmond, but Lee’s quick reaction brought another bloody battle around the Spotsylvania Court House. Mr. Snyder will cover these battles in detail from the experiences of the men who fought them as well as the strategy of the army commanders.
