Holy Redeemer to Offer Free Varicose Vein Screenings

A variety of treatment options will be discussed.

The Holy Redeemer Vein Center will offer free Varicose Vein Screenings Monday, May 14 from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Screenings take less than ten minutes, and will include a physical exam and review of a participant’s medical history. Non-invasive procedures available to treat varicose veins and spider veins will also be discussed.

Varicose veins may be more serious than a mere cosmetic annoyance. These swollen veins—which tend to appear on the back of the calf or the inside of the leg—can cause pain, skin sores, and even blood clots.

“The good news is that there are several treatment options available today,” says Gabor Winkler, M.D., FACS, a board-certified vascular surgeon and chair of surgery at Holy Redeemer. “Many of them are minimally invasive—meaning you’ll have a quick recovery time and experience few, if any, side effects from the procedure.”

Screenings are by appointment only, and may be scheduled by calling 1-800-818-4747.
