Are Philadelphia Eagles Ready for Prime Time?

Philadelphia Eagles square off against New Orleans Saints on "Monday Night Football" in a game which could mean the season.

For many Philadelphia Eagles fans, this season already seems like one of lost hope.

The Birds stand at 3-4 and face the New Orleans Saints in prime time action on "Monday Night Football."

After last week's disaster against the Atlanta Falcons, Coach Andy Reid needs to right this ship -- which is quickly taking water -- and fast.

Another loss could mean the season is hopeless.

But a win to get back to .500 would mean a great deal in this tough NFC.

No one imagined that the Birds would be so bad. After all those years as a playoff contender, being 8-8 last year and 3-4 at this point is pretty pathetic.

And the fan base is losing faith.

Who really are these Eagles? Are they the tried-and-true of players like Reggie White and Brian Dawkins, players who wore -- and bled -- Gang Green? Or are they a bunch of free agent complainers who only really care about cashing a paycheck, not adding to the legacy of the franchise.

The end of Monday night's game marks the end of the first half of the season.

That sounds surprising. It's been a long year already.

But maybe now the magic begins.

Reid has a history of his teams rolling undefeated through November and then roaring through December on to a playoff berth.

Can history repeat itself?

Or have we seen an end to Reid's run. After all, all good things finally do come to an end.

And if this season does get any uglier, than those fans who chanted "Fire Andy" at home last week will get their wish.

It's still not too late. But it could be if the Saints go marching out with a victory Monday night.

Agreed! A change is long overdue.
