Woman Dead After Street Road Crash [Updated]

An elderly Warminster woman is dead after a truck vs. car accident on Street Road in Upper Southampton.

A fatal accident, between a large box truck and a Toyota Prius forced authorities to close Street Road, between Second Street Pike and Maple Avenue, Tuesday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as Linda Renick, 71, of Overlook Lane in Warminster.

The head-on collision, which happened at around 12:45 p.m., left Renick needing rescue from firefighters. Crews were forced to use several specialized pieces of rescue equipment in order to extricate the Warminster woman. It took first responders about 30 minutes to free Renick, who was then rushed to Abington Memorial Hospital, where she later died.

Accident witness, Amine Toubal, of Philadelphia, told Patch he saw the Prius drift from the eastbound lanes of Street Road into the westbound lane, directly in front of the box truck. The Prius appeared to be driving slower than surrounding traffic just seconds before it went in front of the truck, he said. Upper Southampton Police Chief Ron MacPherson said the accident investigation confirmed Toubal’s story.

After impact, the box truck, which has just delivered milk to , swerved into the driveway of the First Children’s Academy and stopped just feet away from classrooms, authorities confirmed. The driver of the truck, a resident of Chambersburg, avoided serious injury police said.

Crews from PennDOT and cleared debris and diesel fuel from the roadway, and by 4:45 p.m. Street Road was reopened to traffic.

Police from Northampton assisted Upper Southampton officers with the investigation, which included digitally mapping the wreck, Lt. Frank Groome said.

Firefighters and fire police from , Warminster, and Northampton were dispatched to the scene.
