Burning Bush Fire Extends Into Factory

A shurb outside a James Way manufacturing facility caught fire and spread into the roof Tuesday afternoon.

A small fire at M & C Specialties on James Way was put out quickly Tuesday afternoon, only causing minor damage, fire officials said.

Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after the flames were reported at 1:16 p.m. They extingished the fire, which started in some shurbs and spread into the roof, said Southampton Fire Company Chief Glenn McKenney.

McKenney also said a few of the building's employees, armed with fire extigishers, had knocked out most of the flames by the time fire crews had arrived.

A witness, who works across the street, said she saw a small tree on fire outside the building and saw smoke coming from the corner of the roof.

Employees who work at M & C, a global company that provides fabricated die cut adhesive components and slit rolls, were spotted outside the building watching firefighters put out the blaze.
