Car Knocks Out Power on Forrest Avenue

A car crashed into a pole in Upper Southampton Wednesday night, shutting off power to numerous local residents.

A minor car accident caused larger problems for some Southampton residents Wednesday night.

Around 9:30 p.m., a tan sedan grazed a utility pole. The jolt to the pole caused the top of the pole to snap turning off the power in the area.

There was little damage to the car, however, the electric lines above Forrest Avenue did not fair as well. Residents reported hearing a hum and seeing a green glow from the pole just before their lights went out.
