Cops Still Searching For Suspect in Wachovia Bank Robbery

Suspect fled on foot as police catch his car off Bustleton Avenue.

According to Upper Moreland Police Chief Thomas Nestel,  at 1:15 p.m., a lone, white male in a white sweatshirt, was reported to have robbed the , at 2090 E. County Line Road in Huntingdon Valley.

The suspect then fled with an unverified amount of money in what was described as an older, green Dodge work van.

Twenty to 25 minutes after the bank robbery, Bryn Athyn Chief of Police Glenn Coffin saw the van traveling east-bound along Byberry Road, according to Nestel.

Coffin attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect sped away, with Coffin then in hot pursuit.

The car chase ended in the Philmont Heights section of Philadelphia, where the suspect was able to lose his pursuant and abdon his vehicle, further fleeing on foot.

Abington Township Police K-9 unit was dispatched for the following manhunt, but the suspect has not been apprehended, Nestel said.

The vehicle was recovered on Lawler Street, near Bustleton Avenue, in Philadelphia, and taken to UMPD for processing.
