Citgo Employee Chases Armed Robber

A man is on the loose after getting away with close to $700 from the Citgo Gas Station on Huntingdon Pike.

The Lower Moreland Police Department confirmed that nobody was hurt during the armed robbery at the Huntingdon Valley Citgo Gas Station Saturday night.

However, police did say the robber got away with $670 in cash and the crime is still under investigation.

A Citgo employee who wished to remain anonymous told Patch the burglar arrived at the store around 9 p.m. The employee was counting money from the PowerBall lottery sales.

"There was a lot of cash. I saw [the robber] enter with a mask; I said, 'I'm done.' He said, 'Give me all the money,' and he pointed to the gun. He said 'give me all the bills, too.'"

The employee pressed the panic button twice while the robber was in the store.

[The robber] took off when he saw the police coming and the Citgo employee tried to chase him, the employee said.

After the suspect fled the scene, police found the semi-automatic gun nearby at 3443 Huntingdon Pike. The suspect walked in the southeast direction into a wooded area after getting away with the cash.

The suspect was wearing a black jacket, gray hoodie and blue jeans. He is in his 30’s, approximately 5’6” to 5’8” with a mustache and goatee.

The employee said there was a similar robbery at this same Citgo about three years ago.

The suspect got away with $670 broken down into:

  • 1 $100 bill
  • 12 $20 bills
  • 9 $10 bills
  • 48 $5 bills
